The new High Potential Executive Program launches at The Fuqua School of Business in September 2009. This program will enable mid-level managers to be more effective in their core role of translating strategy into action.
You will leave the program with a deeper understanding of the complexity of your business, the world around you, your organization's strategy and the specific levers you control to translate strategy into action. You will be empowered with tools that you immediately apply to your business.
This program also integrates Fuqua's mission to educate "leaders of consequence" who are: dynamic team leaders and collaborative team contributors, authentic and brilliant, analytically skilled and strategic with a global perspective. A leader of consequence is passionate about making a positive difference - in business, in the community, and in the world.
The High Potential Executive Program is conducted in two one-week sessions, with a five week intersession, when you are expected to implement the tools and ideas you have learned. Prior to the first session, you are expected to meet with your manager to consider your organization's strategy and identify the areas where strategy needs to be more effectively executed.
Session 1: The Basics
During the first session, you will learn the basics of:
- Being a strategy translator
- The finance-value chain
- Operations
- Marketing
- Managerial effectiveness
Intersession
During the five week intersession, you will work one-on-one with an executive coach to identify the challenges you need to overcome to be a more effective manager. Program faculty will also engage each participant's manager to discuss desired outcomes and consider opportunities for individual improvement.
Session 2: Management Trends & Skills
The second session focuses on critical management issues facing business leaders in the 21st century. This session exposes leaders to trends shaping business and helps participants develop a mindset to be successful now and in the future. This session is designed to provide a deep understanding of the various functional levers managers use to translate strategy into action, providing hands-on experience through interactive exercises and activities. Topic areas include:
- Globalization
- Technology dynamics and practical innovation
- HR value chain
- Effective decision making
The main goal of the High Potential Executive Program is to develop mid-level managers to effectively translate corporate strategy into action.
Objectives:
- Develop the ability to effectively translate strategy into action by increasing self awareness to effectively influence, collaborate and create change
- Prepare for the diverse and complex responsibilities of general management
- Lead change from within an organization while fostering a culture of innovation
- Learn to act as an entrepreneur within an organization
- Run an effective and efficient business unit
