Recruiters begin promoting their company to Duke MBA students as early as the first day of orientation. What can you do to make sure your opportunities stand out?

In both of our buildings, we have access to multiple electronic signs. You can send a PowerPoint slide to your Corporate Account Manager announcing your upcoming event to be displayed on an electronic sign. As in the previous years, all recruiting events are also advertised through the student career intranet. Students will use this intranet to register for the various events and manage their on-campus interview schedules.

Green Recruiting

To reduce the environmental impact of recruiting, Fuqua restricts the use of corporate "giveaway" items. There are still many environmentally friendly ways to make your organization memorable.

Attend a Career Fair or Interview Forum

The Duke MBA Career Management Center hosts two general career fairs in the fall and one in the spring. The fall career fairs format allows you to conduct a brief presentation in a private room and to staff a career fair booth for the students to visit.  Each fall career fair is followed by a networking reception for companies and students.  The spring fair is focused on just-in-time hiring needs and has historically been a multi-school event.

In addition to the career fair events, The Duke MBA Career Management Center partners with other top MBA programs to offer two regional interview forums.  The West Coast Forum is held in San Francisco, CA in January.  The Southeastern MBA Schools Interview Forum is held in Atlanta, GA in March.

Participate in a Career Expo

A series of career expos, aligned by functional and industry interests, are offered in the fall.  Smaller and more focused than the general career fairs, the expo format feature the same options as the career fairs-including a brief corporate presentation, booth, and networking reception.

Host a Corporate Presentation

Some companies will have one hour for a Corporate Presentation.  These events are limited to those employers traditionally garnering the most student attention through their events, interviews, and job offers.  For these events, most companies will make a presentation of approximately 20 minutes and then host a 40-minute networking reception for corporate representatives and students.

Augment Your Recruiting Efforts

Hosting company office hours or sponsoring student events provides additional visibility for your company and will augment your formal recruiting activity.  Office hours, facilitated through The Duke MBA Career Management center, provide a more informal opportunity for students to speak with company representatives in a small group setting.  Sponsoring student club activities offers the chance to interact with students who have strong interest in the functional, industry, or geographic area that aligns with your recruiting needs. Your company can provide sponsorship through an investment of time and/or money.

Advertise

The student newspaper, The Fuqua Times, and other on-campus options help advertise your company and its opportunities. In support of green recruiting, flyers promoting your MBA recruiting events or hiring needs can not be distributed to students.

Leverage Alumni and Summer Interns

Duke MBA alumni are often your company's strongest advocates, and summer interns can add to your campus presence and act as your company's best emissaries.
