Admissions Counselor, Office of Admissions, Level 10 (400256823)

Office of Admissions.  The Admissions Counselor serves as one of the primary points of contact for all Duke MBA Admissions inquiries. This position is responsible for receiving and responding to general inquiries originating from phone calls, walk-ins, e-mail requests, and Information Sessions. Specifically serving as the primary contact for a particular program's inquiries, it is expected that an Admissions Counselor will be cross-trained to handle inquiries about all MBA programs - Global, Weekend, Daytime and Cross Continent. As a member of the inquiry management team, the Admissions Counselor executes day-to-day responsibilities that focus on inquiry management strategies necessary to obtain the desired enrollment for a specific program. The person assuming these responsibilities reports to the Senior Associate Director.  A BA/BS degree with 3 years applicable experience preferably in an academic setting is required. Applicants must have excellent team and customer service skills, a proven high level of initiative and ability to work independently as well as the ability to perform multiple tasks in a competent, accurate, and timely manner.  Intermediate level computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and experience with Access or PeopleSoft are preferred.  (PAID ON THE MONTHLY PAYROLL)

Program Coordinator, Centers, Level 10 (400245207)

Centers. The program coordinator will plan, coordinate and administer activities to support the Associate Dean for Centers in developing and coordinating program activities for four centers at the Fuqua School of Business. Fuqua will serve those who are writing the rules of global business through deep, multi-faceted relationships with the most influential firms in six industry clusters or verticals: Financial Services, Consulting/Strategy, Health Care, Energy and the Environment, Consumer Marketing and IT/Media/Entertainment. Leading firms in these verticals will not only hire our students, purchase our educational services and support us financially; they will be actively involved in helping us both understand the evolving needs of their industries and shape what we do in curriculum design, research, practitioner outreach and other areas to meet those needs. The essential premise is that the school best connected to the world's leading firms will become as a result the leading school in the world. To build these multi-faceted relationships, Fuqua needs to have world-class Centers that correspond to each of the verticals. The program coordinator will report to the Associate Dean for Centers. Undergraduate degree required along with 5+ years program and/or events planning and administrative experience. Must be computer savvy in Microsoft programs. System Administrator, IT Infrastructure, Level 12 (400269155)

IT Infrastructure: This position provides planning, implementation, and support for multiple platforms in use at the Fuqua School of Business and supported by the Infrastructure and Technical Architecture team.  The ITA team is responsible for all lifecycle stages of servers, storage, networking and databases in use at the Fuqua School of Business.  Specific responsibilities of this position include the design, deployment, support and retirement of Linux, Windows and VMware servers and associated Network Appliance storage devices, and of the Web Services environment.  The Systems Administrator is expected to work as part of a support team using industry best practices for the administration of servers across operating systems whenever appropriate.  Significant interaction with other IT staff, administrative and academic support groups is expected.  Four to five years of systems administration experience in a mid-size enterprise is required.  Specific skills sought include in-depth knowledge of Linux operating systems (e.g., RHEL & Centos) and web services environments (e.g., Apache/Tomcat).  Candidate must be ready to provide support in a mission critical, 24x7 system environment.  The ability to work both independently and as a team member, managing multiple assignments in a well-organized manner is vital.  This position requires significant interface with both technical and non-technical staff, so excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.  Preferred experience includes command scripting for Windows and/or Linux server environments, hands-on administration of Windows Servers, VMware ESX Server environment and NetApp filers.  Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience is required.  Certification in one or more of the technologies listed above is highly desirable.  (PAID ON THE MONTHLY PAYROLL)

Business Analyst, Level 12 (400186033)

Marketing. The Business Analyst is a member of the Marketing & Communications staff who will be responsible for the quantitative analysis of internal and external data for strategic and performance insight . This person will need to have strong communication skills to compliment their analytical abilities. This position reports to the Director of Market Intelligence. B.S. or MA/MS in statistics or a related quantitative field, a master's degree is preferred. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years experience in statistical modeling/analysis and written and oral presentation of results. Work experience in higher education a plus. Ability to work within a team environment. Strong/persuasive communication skills and the ability to quickly develop relationships across teams and departments. Executive MBA Programs.  The Business Analyst for Executive MBA Programs is responsible for day-to-day management of all budgets, contracts, external agreements, student surveys (both internally and externally generated), and metric creation and analysis relative to the delivery of the Fuqua School’s portfolio of Executive MBA programs. Fuqua’s Executive MBA programs currently enroll in excess of 700 students annually. Projected enrollment within the next 24 months is anticipated to exceed 1000 students annually. The Business Analyst reports to the Director of Executive MBA Programs - Shared Services.  The Business Analyst position requires an excellent understanding of accounting, budgeting, and financial management principles. Experience in data analysis and survey design and administration is also required. Experience working with contracts and purchases, particularly with regard to events management, is desired. The position requires excellent project management, organizational, logistics, and planning skills. Additionally, the position requires strong interpersonal and communications skills in order to interact effectively with Executive MBA Programs project teammates, other departments within Fuqua, Duke University offices, outside vendors, and office personnel. A person with an extremely high level of maturity, confidence, quick decision making skills, and contingency planning experience is essential. Assistant Director, Level 12 – 2 Positions (400264873) (400264863)

Executive MBA Programs.  The Assistant Directors of Executive MBA Programs, Shared Services and Program Delivery, work as project team leaders, providing operational direction for programs within The Fuqua School’s portfolio of Executive MBA programs. Working under the direction of either the Director of Executive MBA Programs—Program Delivery or the Director of Executive MBA Programs—Shared Services, the Assistant Directors design and direct program events and activities that comprise Fuqua’s Executive MBA programs, apart from specific course content delivered by faculty. These positions are responsible for assisting Fuqua’s senior leadership, faculty, and staff in the development of strategic direction and policies for Fuqua’s portfolio of Executive MBA programs and working in conjunction with all members of the Executive MBA programs team and other departments within Fuqua to ensure the successful implementation of Fuqua’s Executive MBA Programs.  The Assistant Directors will assist in the creation of the Program Delivery and Shared Services budgets for Executive MBA programs. Additionally, each Assistant Director will be responsible for managing individual project budgets, ensuring the successful implementation of projects, while staying within the project budgets allotted by the school. Three to five years of project management, business, or education administration experience, with significant background in managing complex projects are required. Experience with delivery of international programs strongly preferred. Experience with diverse populations in a business or higher education setting is desired. The successful candidate will be a person with a high level of maturity and confidence. The ability to handle multiple priorities in an independent manner is a must. Strong computer skills are required. Superior written and verbal communication skills are foundational in representing the Fuqua School to our constituencies. Assistant/Associate Director, Level 13, (400232843)

Career Management Center. The Assistant/Associate Director has responsibility for the career services provided to Duke MBA daytime students within an assigned set of career focus areas. In this capacity, s/he ensures a comprehensive program of workshops, counseling, and other services that reflect the ever-changing interests and needs of Fuqua's globally diverse, 800-member daytime student body and prepares them to succeed in the competitive MBA job market, both at the internship and graduate levels. The position also has ownership for 1 – 2 major collateral assignments which add value beyond the immediate area of responsibility and contribute to the broader CMC mission and objectives. Additionally, s/he is a key member of the CMC leadership team and has associated administrative duties. Reporting to the Associate Dean, the incumbent will work closely with other assistant/associate directors and the entire CMC team; students, student clubs and organizations; a variety of Fuqua departments, centers, and faculty members; other areas of the Duke community; corporate recruiters; and alumni. Graduate degree, with an MBA or a Masters in Counseling strongly preferred.  5-7 years career counseling, corporate recruiting/HR and/or management experience recommended, with direct supervision in a career center or outplacement practice highly desirable. Director, Program Delivery, Level 15, (400264883)

Executive MBA Programs.  The Director of Executive MBA Programs—Program Delivery provides overall direction for delivery of the Fuqua School’s portfolio of Executive MBA programs. Fuqua’s Executive MBA programs currently enroll in excess of 700 students annually. Projected enrollment within the next 24 months is anticipated to exceed 1000 students annually. Working in conjunction with the Associate Dean and Assistant Dean for Executive MBA programs, as well as the Regional Directors within Fuqua’s network of globally distributed campuses, the Director is responsible for the strategic design, direction, and implementation of all activities that comprise Fuqua’s Executive MBA experience, apart from the specific course content delivered by faculty. The Director reports to the Assistant Dean of Executive MBA Programs.  The Director must be able to operate as an extremely strong and effective project manager, working closely with the Associate Dean and Assistant Dean, Regional Directors, other departments within Fuqua and across Duke, and with all partner organizations and institutions in a complex and fast-moving environment. The position requires excellent project management, organizational, logistics, and planning skills. This position supervises a team of individuals, so strong people management and development skills are crucial. Additionally, the position requires strong interpersonal, cross-cultural, and communication skills in order to interact effectively with faculty, students, Executive MBA Programs project teammates, Duke University offices, outside vendors, and office personnel. The ability to make independent judgments in situations with a high level of ambiguity is critical. Many Executive MBA program activities are conducted outside of the United States, so international travel is required. The ability to adapt to diverse cultural conditions is essential. Manager, Level 15 - 3 Positions - Dubai, China and India

The Duke MBA International. The manager will support the initial start-up, ongoing planning and management of program and residency planning, admissions, career services and business development within their assigned region. A manager will be required for each of three locations China , Dubai and India. Travel within the assigned region(s) will be required. The manager will represent all programs for Duke University 's Fuqua School of Business including the Daytime Program, Executive MBA Programs with particular emphasis on the Duke MBA Cross Continent program and non-degree Executive Education programs. The manager will report to the Director in country and will also work closely with Executive MBA Operations, Admissions, Marketing, Development and the Career Management Center in the United States to ensure appropriate coordination of responsibilities.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the director to promote the Duke MBA's programs and further develop our brand recognition and value in the assigned market.
  • In conjunction with the director, provide input to and implement an annual strategy for selling, marketing and promoting all programs with an emphasis on the Duke MBA Cross Continent program and non-degree Executive Education programs.
  • Coordinate with Admissions to devise and implement strategies for recruiting students from the assigned regions.
  • Assist in the strategic planning of the Cross-Continent program with responsibility for tactical implementation of the program, and continuous operational improvements. Ensure a very high-level end to end experience for our students.
  • Primary interface between local students/alumni and administration. This role requires mature judgment, a thorough understanding of academic standards and regulations, ability to direct program logistics and innovations, the ability to carefully manage student expectations, and a service mindset.
  • Collaborating with the program delivery team manage residency sites, secure guest speakers and ensure all appropriate resources are in place for programs.
  • Conduct counseling in person, over the phone, and via email. Vary counseling style according to student's individual needs and concerns.
  • Meet with company recruiters and Duke MBA alumni to discuss recruiting strategies and hiring needs, thereby improving companies' recruiting efforts and deepening relationships.
  • Coach recruiters on trends in student interests, compensation packages, and perceptions of recruiting practices.
  • Share information gained through company outreach with students to educate them about MBA recruiting, specific companies, and job market trends.

Education and Experience:

  • An undergraduate degree is required. An MBA or advanced degree with an international focus is preferred.
  • A culturally savvy professional with a minimum of 6 years of experience in marketing, business development, career services, admissions and/or program planning preferably in industry or another top business school.

Director, Level 17 - 2 positions - London and China

The Duke MBA International. The director will serve as the lead business development and market coordinator in the region. The director will lead the initial start-up, ongoing planning and management of global business development, corporate relations, admissions, career services and program management within their assigned region. A director will be required for each of five locations China , Dubai , India , Russia and London . The directors assigned to India and Russia may be located in Dubai or London . A frequent amount of travel within the assigned region(s) is required. The director will represent all programs for Duke University 's Fuqua School of Business including the Daytime Program, Executive MBA Programs with particular emphasis on the Duke MBA Cross Continent program and non-degree Executive Education programs. The director will report to the Senior Associate Dean for Programs located in the United States . The director will also work closely with Admissions, the Career Management Center , Marketing, Development and the Dean's Office in the United States to ensure strategic coordination of all efforts. The director will lead a small but growing local team of people which will require the initiative and commitment to do a lot of the “hands on” work.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Travel within the assigned region and other viable areas close to the home region promoting the Duke MBA's programs and further developing our brand recognition and value in the assigned market.
  • Build the Duke MBA's presence in the region through developing business partnerships with key organizations and executing marketing initiatives.
  • Provide input to and implement the school's annual strategy for selling, marketing and promoting all programs in the region with an emphasis on the Duke MBA Cross Continent program and non-degree Executive Education programs.
  • Develop and maintain a strategic business development plan to guide efforts of the faculty director and the local executive who will support our efforts in region.
  • Coordinate annual strategy with other stakeholders in the organization.
  • Coordinate with Admissions to devise and implement strategies for recruiting students from the assigned regions.
  • In conjunction with the faculty director and local corporate development director develop and manage relationships with corporations to: attract companies to recruit our students, develop strong ties and public good will with key recruiting companies, promote Daytime and EMBA programs, look for non-degree executive education opportunities, and support our alumni in those corporations.
  • Coordinate with, and enhance, key partnerships with leading educational institutions, government and corporate entities critical to our ability to conduct business in region.
  • Coordinate with Alumni Relations to develop a strategy to provide alumni support and lifelong learning, while also leveraging the Fuqua and Duke Alumni base in support of activities described above.
  • Represent the Duke MBA at conferences along with other brand building opportunities, and provide program support as needed.
  • Manage a local budget and maintain internal controls.

Director of Development (DAR), Level 98 (real level 17) (400259956)

Development and Alumni Relations. The Director of Development plans, develops, and directs a comprehensive fundraising program for The Fuqua School of Business and oversees a staff of 16 team members who comprise the functions of corporate relations, major gifts, advancement services, and annual giving. This position reports to the Associate Dean, Development & Alumni Relations (DAR) and collaborates with Fuqua’s Dean, the DAR department and other Fuqua and Duke University departments on overall strategy, initiatives and events. Graduate degree preferred with eight to ten years of team management and direct fundraising experience.  Work experience in higher education, alumni relations or development a plus. Applicants must have superior written and oral communication, excellent customer service skills and the ability to develop relationships and team participation.  Demonstrated leadership in managing volunteers is required as is experience and comfort in interacting with senior lever executives.  Strong work ethic in a fast-paced, results-oriented team environment as well as creativity, adaptability, diplomatic skills and sense of humor a plus.   Proficiency with all Microsoft Office products (Windows, Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Access) and willingness and ability to master proprietary database tools.  (PAID ON THE MONTHLY PAYROLL)
